Patterns for Baptism
Revd Mark Earey, Tutor in Mission and Ministry at Cuddesdon
Revd Ruth Howlett-Shipley, Team Rector of Chalke Valley Benefice in Salisbury Diocese
Patterns for Baptism doesn’t add any new texts, but for the first time it brings all the options for baptisms together in one place and makes the decision-making process easier. The added material includes guidance notes for each option and scenarios that show how to use the material creatively and contextually.
This event will explore the riches of PfB and consider how it can help make baptisms better in local churches. It will provide inspiring ideas for bringing together words and actions, symbols and signs, music and movement to enrich pastoral practice and deepen Christian formation.
Mark Earey is no stranger to Common Worship resources, being involved from its inception. From the late 90s, he was closely involved in the production of services and helping people to know how to use them. Mark brings enormous experience of ministry as a parish priest, practical ecumenist and theological educator.
Mark is joined by Ruth Howlett-Shipley, who is a member of the Transforming Worship Executive. Ruth will be sharing some of her experience of using Patterns for Baptism in a parish context.
